     The Bravura Brass is Dallas/Fort Worth’s all professional brass quintet.  Among our five members, we hold 10 academic degrees in music from some of the nation’s most respected schools of music, including the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Florida State University, the University of North Texas, and Southern Methodist University.  Our members have performed professionally around the country, and we hold ourselves to the highest standard - our reputations depend on that.  Read on to learn more about the individual musicians.

MARTY BISHOP - TRUMPET

Bravura Brass trumpet player Marty Bishop holds a bachelor's degree from the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music at the University of Memphis.  While there, he studied trumpet with David Spencer, as well as performing with the top bands and orchestras of that school.  More recently, he completed a Master of Music Performance degree at the University of North Texas, where he studied with John Holt and Keith Johnson and performed in numerous ensembles, including the prestigious UNT Wind Ensemble.


NICK HARVEY - TRUMPET

Virginia native Nick Harvey completed his master's degree in trumpet performance at the University of North Texas in 2007 under the instruction of Keith Johnson, and a bachelor's in music industry in 2003 at James Madison University, where he studied with James Kluesner. Nick has performed with such groups as the Las Colinas Symphony, the Lone Star Wind Orchestra, the Orchestra of New Spain, the Texas Camerata, as well as an onstage performance with the Dallas Opera in 2007. He has also been playing baroque trumpet since 2000 and cornetto since 2001. In March 2005 he competed in the historic division of the National Trumpet Competition and received the Reiche Award, the highest of three awards. Nick is a staff member at the University of North Texas and continues to be an active freelance musician in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex.


STUART WOMBLE - HORN

Horn player Stuart Womble is active throughout the greater Dallas - Forth Worth Metroplex as a freelance musician and has performed professionally around the nation.  He has held horn positions with the Chicago Civic Orchestra, the training orchestra for the Chicago Symphony, and the symphonies of Jacksonville, Charleston, and Tallahassee.  In Texas, he holds positions with the orchestras of Las Colinas, Garland, and Arlington, and has performed with the Richardson Symphony and the Dallas Wind Symphony.

Womble graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Music degree from Tennessee Technological University.  He also earned a Master of Music degree in horn performance from The Florida State University.  His principal teachers include David Cripps, William Capps, and Arthur LaBarre.


RYAN ROSS -  TROMBONE

Bravura Brass trombone and euphonium player Ryan Ross holds a Bachelor of Music Performance degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he studied euphonium with Mark Moore.  He also holds a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting which he earned through his studies with Gary Lewis at Texas Tech University.  In addition to his activities with the Bravura Brass, Ross serves as the Artistic Director/Conductor of the Dallas Festival of Modern Music and Music Director for the Tyler Youth Orchestra.  He also serves as an Adjunct Instructor of Music at Tyler Junior College.

Previous experience includes the principal euphonium chair in the University of Illinois Wind Symphony, second baritone horn with the NABBA National Championship St. Louis Brass Band, trombone with the East Texas Symphony Orchestra and Green Street Brass Quintet, and Cover Conductor with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra.


JARROD ROBERTSON - TUBA

Jarrod Robertson is currently the principal tubist with the Longview Symphony Orchestra, and tubist with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet and Lone Star Wind Orchestra.  He holds his music degree from Southern Methodist University where he studied with Matt Good, Principal Tubist of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.  Previous engagements include professional performances with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, as well as the orchestras of Charleston, Shreveport, Richardson, Las Colinas, and Irving.  He reached the semi-final round for the Toledo Symphony's recent national tuba auditions.
