
Clinton Sims
Clinton Sims is currently the principal tubist with the El Paso Symphony. He also teaches private lessons on tuba and euphonium throughout the Dallas and Fort Worth areas as well as serving on the adjunct faculty at Brookhaven College. He holds a bachelor's degree in music education from Central Missouri State where he studied with Charles McAdams and a master's degree in tuba performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he studied with Mark Moore. Past appointments include principal tuba with the Illinois Wind Symphony, the flagship ensemble of the world's largest band program, as well as principal tubist in the University of Illinois Symphony Orchestra. Previously he has performed professionally with the Champaign-Urbana Symphony, Prairie Ensemble, and the Denton based Inner-City All-Stars.
In addition to his primary teachers, Sims has studied with or played for Gene Pokorny (Chicago Symphony), Dan Perantoni, Sam Pilafian, and Steve Seward (Kansas City Symphony).
